Giant Royal Wedding Card

London – 25 April 2011: Equal Love campaign. Supporters of lesbian and gay marriage presented a giant wedding card to Prince William and Kate Middleton outside Buckingham Palace. The card read: “Congratulations William and Kate on your Wedding Day. We wish you a happy life together. You can get married, gay people can’t. We are banned by law. We ask you to support marriage equality. Equal=Love.”

Sharon & Franka apply for a marriage license

Rev Sharon Ferguson (52) and her partner Franka (49), applied for a civil marriage licence at Greenwich Register Office at the Town Hall in Woolwich on Tuesday 2 November in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on same-sex marriage. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on gay marriages.

Peter Tatchell’s Blue Plaque unveiled

Sir Ian McKellen unveiled a blue plaque honouring Peter Tatchell, campaigner for human rights, gay freedom and social justice. The ceremony took place on Wednesday 29 September 2010 at 11am outside Peter’s block of flats in Southwark, London.

Anglican Homophobia Protest

Protest against the anti-gay and anti-women Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (Foca), a newly formed network for millions of Anglicans angered by the rise of liberal theology.

Support Mehdi Kazemi protest

London, 22 March 2008 – More than 100 protesters gathered in Whitehall opposite Downing Street in support of Mehdi Kazemi’s asylum appeal. Mr Kazemi, a gay man, is threatened with deportation to Iran where LGBT people risk torture and execution.

Saudi Protest

Stop Saudi homophobia!

Protesters picketed the Saudi Arabian Embassy in London to condemn the flogging and execution queers. The protest was organised by the National Union of Students LGBT campaign, with the support of LGBT human rights group OutRage! Peter Tatchell was a guest speaker.
